A Varanasi house that makes what it sells

The address has not changed since the beginning: 693, S.P., Chiraigaon, Varanasi – 221112, on the Ghazipur side of the district. It started as a counter selling agri-inputs to farmers from the villages around it. The questions those farmers brought — why a spray had not worked, what the crop was short of, whether the pack was genuine — are the reason the company later chose to manufacture rather than only trade.

In 2003 we began making product in-house. That changed what we could promise. A formulation we make is a formulation we can control, check, record and stand behind. In 2017 the business was formally incorporated as Yagyavalkya Agro Industries Pvt. Ltd., the company behind the Shaktiwan Agro brand and part of the Shaktiwan Group.

Roughly twenty years of brand sales and twenty-four years of service to farmers sit behind the catalogue today: 91 products across seven categories, manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality systems and sold through dealers who know their farmers by name.

Our works and office are at Chiraigaon in Varanasi, and eastern Uttar Pradesh is the ground we know best — its crops, its soils, its seasons and its markets. Product reaches the farmer through appointed dealers and distributors rather than direct sale, because a dealer who lives in the block can answer a question the same afternoon.
